Hong Kong

These are a few of my favourite things

The last day of 2019. It started well. And I am grateful for so many things, I thought I might celebrate the end of the year by listing a few.

  • The ability to travel to other countries, physically, financially, cognitively…..
  • the chance to spend time in Hong Kong to find out about and maybe find my birth family, all the help, love and support I’ve had, especially from Winnie
  • English is widely spoken and I can mostly be understood
  • Really Good health especially thawed out frozen shoulder that gave me so much pain but is now fine
  • Friends and family, travelling with me literally in the case of
  • Lovely lovely Martin
  • friends and dear dear family, Tom and Lisa and Phoebe and Lucy and Max, travelling with me virtually thanks to
  • wonderful technology, WiFi, mobile phones, portable keyboard, headphones
  • Daily meditation
  • swimming, today within seconds from a very cheap but luxurious Vietnamese hotel suite
  • a long piping hot deep bath after a quite cold swim
  • food, of every kind, from Europe and Asia. Hot and cold, sweet and savoury. To sample and savour and in some cases reject.
  • My Christmas Karaoke microphone and speaker, streamed music of my choice including
  • Corny Christmas songs and Dire Straits singing Brothers in Arms
  • going to breakfast in my silk pyjamas, something I’ve always wanted to do but never have until today
  • Vivo barefoot shoes, slightly damp after yesterday, but embellished with silk bows
  • my ‘will never lose’ Port Isaac silver cuff
  • contact lenses and glasses
  • 3b pencil and Muji notepad
  • travelling lightly and therefore brightly, helped by
  • all in one, sodium laureate sulphate free Childs Farm hair/body/face wash with geranium and orange
  • a flask of hot coffee for the next stage of the journey
  • green tea
  • creme caramel and tofu (separate plates) for breakfast
  • aromatherapy oils
  • raincoat and woolly scarf
  • Goods of Desire (GOD) made in Hong Kong t shirt and comfortable travelling trousers
  • hair bobbles
  • red lippy
  • waterproof cheap and OK if I lose it watch
  • Speedo endurance simple swimming cossie, goggles and nose clip and swim cap
  • Another year of so much stuff to be thankful for, and people to be thankful for and love, and the joy of becoming a Nai Nai.

Looking for my long lost family in Hong Kong
And previously....
Fell in love with coastal living 5 years ago. And moved to stunning St Ives. A place to create and grow and flourish. Got me a home and a job. And never looked back. Everyone talks and writes about the famous dead people of St Ives. Virginia and Alfred and Ben and Barbara and Peter and Wilhelmina. Well I thought I’d introduce you to some very nice folk, and they’re all very much alive and make St Ives a much the better town for it.
